Signalling Peptide LP_3050
This peptide is classed as a signal peptide which plays an important role of protein export to the cell membrane or cell wall. Proteins which follow the Sec-dependent pathway are synthesized with a N-terminal signalling peptide that shuttles the protein to the Sec translocation machinery after translation. The signal peptide is then cleaved off during or shortly after the translocation. This signal peptide (SP) sequence belongs to a SP found in the genome of L. plantarum WCFS1 and has been shown to function well at secreting heterologous proteins in L. plantarum (Matheisn et al,. 2009)
